Terms of Service
Effective August 3, 2026
1. The service
What's in my docs? ("the service") reads PDF documents you upload — financial statements, invoices, and similar — extracts their text, and produces an AI-generated summary (accounts, balances, movements, tickers, key facts) plus trend charts across your uploads. By creating an account or using the service you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy, which is part of them.
2. Accounts
You need an account to use the service. Sign-in is handled by Clerk; you are responsible for your credentials and for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old. One person may hold one free account.
3. Plans, payments, and credits
- Free plan. 5 documents per rolling 30 days, up to 15 pages per document.
- Pro subscription. Billed monthly or annually in USD through Stripe. Renews automatically until cancelled. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the paid period — no partial refunds for unused time, except as required by law.
- Document credits. One-time purchases that let a free-plan account upload beyond its allowance. Credits never expire, are spent only after an upload succeeds, and are non-transferable. Unused credits are refundable within 30 days of purchase; after a refund the corresponding credits are removed.
- Taxes. Applicable taxes are calculated and collected at checkout.
- Price changes. We notify subscribers by email at least 30 days before a price change takes effect on their renewal.
4. Acceptable use
You may upload only documents you have the right to possess and process. You agree not to:
- upload documents belonging to others without their authorization;
- probe, overload, or circumvent the service's rate limits, plan caps, or security controls;
- use automation to exceed fair-use volumes on any plan;
- resell or white-label the service without a written agreement;
- use the service for anything unlawful.
We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, with notice where practicable.
5. Your content
Your documents are yours. We claim no ownership or license over uploaded PDFs, their text, or your data beyond what's needed to operate the service for you. Because PDFs and extracted text are processed in memory and never stored (see the Privacy Policy), we cannot return, leak, or lose them — upload a document only when you still have the original.
6. AI output — not advice
Summaries, charts, and extracted figures are produced by an AI model and may be wrong, incomplete, or misread. They are a reading aid, not a record of fact, and they are not financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Always verify figures against the original document before acting on them. Decisions you make based on the service are your own.
7. Availability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". AI summarization depends on a third-party provider (DeepSeek); when it is unavailable the service degrades to text extraction with a notice rather than failing. We target high availability but warrant no specific uptime on any plan.
8. Warranties and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim (or USD 50 if you paid nothing). We are never liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, lost profits, or lost data.
9. Termination
You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time; deletion erases your stored data as described in the Privacy Policy. We may terminate accounts for breach of these terms. Sections 5–8 survive termination.
10. Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date above moves and signed-in users are notified by email. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of the new terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction — set before launch], without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the courts of that jurisdiction.
